Located in Sag Harbor, NY, our goal was to balance and elevate these two important factors when approaching this modern Hamptons home. Capturing a warm ambiance in newly built homes can be challenging, especially when aiming for a distinctly contemporary design. The solution? Beautifully balancing modern, minimalist-leaning elements with more classic accents for a design that is both dramatically modern and timeless. This is our signature Soft Modern style.

Bakes & Kropp Head of Design Bob Bakes approached this kitchen looking to add warmth and comfort while maintaining functionality and style. With this in mind, our Soft Modern style flourishes. The Border Emerson cabinetry in a trending, polished gloss gray is contrasted by a finished oak island to showcase a sophisticated mix of high gloss and matte accents. Around the perimeter, the kitchen cabinets provide ample storage with doors that function with little hardware. To keep the sleek, minimalist look, the hood is concealed behind the cabinetry. The deep gray cabinet colors are further made light and airy through soft wood framing and white for an added element of comfort throughout the space.

Our Soft Modern aesthetic is a modern twist to our transitional products, incorporating modern elements but tempered with softer materiality and textures. This Hamptons home is a perfect example of this style and showcases a growing client desire for modern-leaning designs balanced by more classic elements.
