In the Hamptons, Bakes & Kropp collaborated with Karen Gorman Design to bring this bright, classic kitchen design to life. Catered to the homeowner's specific tastes and needs, the project is a true collaboration showcasing the benefits of bespoke cabinetry design. Aiming for a concept driven by a few singular design features while maintaining a cohesive and functional space, our Head of Design, Bob Bakes, selected Classic Meridian cabinetry in white and warm wood finishes for a simple, elegant base. The standout element, a custom floating island, accentuates the warmth of the space while providing ample kitchen storage. Designed in Bakes & Kropp’s Classic Meridian kitchen cabinetry style, the island’s floating effect is made possible by hollow legs that cleverly conceal water lines for the built-in sink.

Timeless icebox hardware was chosen for the refrigerator and wine column freezer, adding a touch of vintage charm to the space. Other design elements selected by the design team, including the black and gold range hood and console sink, add a traditional touch to the overall aesthetic. An adjacent butler’s pantry replicates the kitchen’s classic style with a modern twist. Black Satin Bakes & Kropp cabinetry and elegant countertops mirror the kitchen’s statement island. FINISH hardware and glossy subway tile provide cohesion to the kitchen despite the contrasting palette. Together, the kitchen and butler’s pantry combine transitional elements to create a stunning space that is both functional and beautiful.
