Project Feature: Amagansett Transformation

When embarking on a kitchen renovation, it’s important for the Bakes & Kropp team to learn about our clients’ lifestyles at the onset of our consultation. How do they intend to use the space on a day-to-day basis? Do they enjoy hosting? Are they avid cooks? Understanding our clients and their lives becomes paramount to the design vision.

In a home nestled in the serene enclave of Amagansett, New York, we undertook a remarkable kitchen transformation. Blending elegance with performance, our senior designer beautifully executed the homeowners’ clear vision: a tasteful, welcoming space for gatherings and shared moments that balances their daily culinary needs. With a transitional-leaning design, this East Coast kitchen bridges the gap between timeless charm and modern efficiency.

A space for shared moments: Family and friends can gather around the island or settle in at the nearby dining table.

This project goes beyond aesthetics; it’s about delivering functionality and convenience through the use of elements that are both distinctive and visually appealing. The integration of numerous appliances into the design is a testament to this commitment, with must-have features including integrated coffee stations and thoughtful pull-out storage for everyday essentials. Icebox-style doors on the refrigerator, freezer, and pull-out pantry introduce timeless character and continuity to the space. Glass upper cabinets and open shelves, adorned with subtle lighting, radiate sophistication and charm. Custom pullouts designed for small appliances, paper towels, and produce storage demonstrate the kitchen's commitment to efficiency, while pendant lighting adds an element of surprise and intrigue.

By integrating the steam oven into the island, visual clutter is kept to a minimum.

A convenient coffee station means mornings are a little less stressful.

Custom pullouts provide dedicated storage for small appliances.

Walnut icebox-style doors conceal the refrigerator and pull the look together.

Our Meridian Collection cabinetry, a cornerstone of the design, painted in captivating Bakes White is further enriched by warm Pearl Walnut accents, with the island serving as the centerpiece, graced by a True Walnut countertop. The selected hardware reflects the shared dedication of the homeowners and designers to creating a harmonious and stylish environment. Armac Martin pulls and knobs in a polished nickel finish bring an elegant touch to the cabinets, complementing the broader design scheme.

Floating shelves, pull-out serving trays, and wine drawers add interest and functionality to the design.

Polished nickel accents and thoughtful lighting illuminate the space beautifully.

With an array of appliances to accommodate, one significant challenge emerged: creating adequate storage without compromising the kitchen's aesthetic integrity. This obstacle was met with unwavering design acumen, a hallmark of our design team’s expertise. The finished kitchen effortlessly incorporates signature features, such as our Meridian Collection cabinetry, polished nickel hardware, and icebox-style panels, set against a white-painted canvas punctuated by soft walnut accents.

A custom banquette completes this welcoming eat-in kitchen.

This kitchen remodel in the Hamptons stands out as a unique project in Bakes & Kropp's extensive portfolio. What sets it apart is the delicate balance of form and function it achieves. The result is a space that exudes softness, transitioning gracefully between contemporary and classic styles, and offers an inviting atmosphere, perfect for a variety of kitchen activities.
